Art Ensemble "Binicki" in Bijeljina



The Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki” held a concert at “Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic” barracks in Bijeljina, the Republika Srpska.

Choir “Sveti Kralj Stefan Decanski” from Brcko also participated in the ceremony held on the occasion of blessing of the renewed Memorial temple of Saint Martyr Knez lazar and all Serbian martyrs, and on the occasion of marking the centenary of the beginning of the Great War.

Conducted by maestro Pavle Medakovic, the ensemble performed compositions “Mars Vojvode Stepe Stepanovica”, “Oficirsko kolo”, “Tamo daleko”, “Mars Kralja Aleksandra I”, “Pukni zoro”, “Mars Kralja Petra I”, “Serbian Waltz”, “March on the Drina”, “Zbog tebe momo ubavo” and others. Performances were also given by soloists Dejan Pesic and Danka Stojiljkovic, and actor Goran Jokic from the National Theater in Banja Luka. At the end of the ceremony, representatives of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina handed over a present to maestro Medakovic, as a token of gratitude to “Binicki” Ensemble.

The ceremony was also attended by Serbian ministers, officials of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, episcope of the Zvornicko-tuzlanska eparchy Hrizostom, protoiereus Vaso Popovic, military cleric and President of the Eparchy Organizational Board for blessing the Memorial temple and marking the centenary of the Great War, representatives of the City of Bijeljina, Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and numerous citizens.

The guests were addressed by Minister of Interior Radislav Jovicic, Minister of Labour and Veterans' Affairs and episcope Hrizostom.

Memorial temple at “Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic” barracks is the first military memorial temple built by soldiers and higher staff of the Armed Forces of the Republika Srpska. It has been reconstructed by charity donations and effort of the Public Safety Center in Bijeljina, Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Professional Firefighting Units from Bijeljina, Orthodox Association of the Serbian Orthodox Church at the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and people of Semberija and Majevica. The temple preserves the memory of fallen policemen, soldiers, firefighters and military doctors killed on their duty.
