SAF members awarded medals through IMET Program



A delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by State Secretary Nemanja Starović, attended today a medal ceremony for three members of the Serbian Armed Forces - recipients of the Joint Service Achievement Medal - Major Mladen Šaponja and second lieutenants Luka Adamović and Filip Stanković, who successfully completed courses in the United States of America through the IMET Program, graduating with honours.
  On that occasion, State Secretary Starović said that education and training in the U.S. military educational institutions in America and Europe helps enhance the knowledge of our personnel. Since 2006, the International Military Education and Training Program - IMET has allowed members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces to participate in various forms of training and is one of the most stable segments of the defence cooperation between the two countries.
During the medal presentation, the host of the ceremony, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill, praised the selection of candidates who worthily represent their country and contribute to the quality of education in the institutions where they study. He also emphasized the professionalism and the degree of training of all members of the Serbian Armed Forces who had been sent to the USA for various forms of education and training.
