Minister Vulin with students of the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School

Minister of defence Aleksandar Vulin has visited the boarding premises of the Military High School and the students of the Secondary Vocational Military School today, where the commanding officers and students of those military schools presented to him the sports and academic achievements achieved by the youngest members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the previous period.

After the presentation and talks, minister Vulin pointed out that by a wrong and detrimental decision, in 2005, the Armed Forces abolished the secondary vocational military schools.

- We have saved aviation, we have saved materiel, but we have systematically eliminated the possibility to educate those who will take care of aviation and materiel. Fortunately, in 2015, that decision was reversed, and now we have already had the first generation of those who have completed the secondary vocational school and who have already started working in the Serbian Armed Forces – Minister Vulin emphasised.

The Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence will do everything, Minister Vulin said, to make the secondary education base of the Serbian Armed Forces as wide as possible, to admit as many children as possible and to provide them with the best conditions for education.

- We had the opportunity to talk to children who beat much older than themselves, much more trained than themselves, because they are – soldiers, because they accepted to always go for victory, because they give their best and because there are no unsolvable problems for them and there are no questions that they have no answer to. These children have chosen to be part of the system of the Serbian Armed Forces and these children have chosen to enter into a system that will take care of each of them from the start to the end - Minister Vulin pointed out.

According to him, everyone who becomes a part of the system of the Serbian Armed Forces, all those who come to study at the Military High School or the Secondary Vocational Military School can be sure that the system will take care of them.

- The time when we were destroying the system, when we abolished the possibility for these children to be educated, promoted and remain in the military, has gone. These are the times when the system is restored and these are the times when the military takes care of its personnel again – Minister Vulin concluded.

Speaking on behalf of all employees of the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School, the Head of the Military High School, Commander (N) Miroslav Ćitić, recalling the mission of these military educational institutions and the curriculum, referred in particular to the extracurricular work which these schools nurture. He pointed out that the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School organise several courses, clubs and sections in which students have achieved significant results over the years.

The latest in a series of successes, he added, was achieved by the youngest section in the Secondary Vocational Military School – Military Radio Club that won the team first place at the recently held ‘Radovan Medić’ Cup.

Commander (N) Ćitić also emphasised that the students of the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School also achieved remarkable results at the Novi Sad Marathon, orienteering competitions, as well as at the charity tournament dubbed “I love children – I play for Zvečanska”, and the students with the best results had opportunity to tell the minister of defence more about the successes achieved.

The Head of the Military High School thanked the Ministry of Defence, the University of Defence and the Military Academy for recognizing the importance of secondary education, so that the students of the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School can participate in sports and academic events along with their senior colleagues in the system.

On behalf of the Military Radio Club team, a student of Secondary Vocational Military School, Petar Roganović, spoke about his impressions after the team victory in the ‘Radovan Medić’ Cup, in the radio goniometry competition that was held on 24th October. He reminded that this was the fourth competition in which they participated as a team, and that they won all the four.

This is a competition with clubs from the region and other European countries. The victory is even more significant for us, as competitors with many years of experience participated in the competition, but we learned well to do that direction quickly, to find stations in a short time and reach the goal – Petar points out, adding that they will have the World Championship in Zlatibor next year, in which he hopes their team will also make success.

A student Jovana Stojković is the oldest participant in the Military Radio Club team, who also indicated the success they achieved in the competitions they participated in.

- Since we were the youngest in this competition, we have shown that the hope of the world rests on the young – student Jovana emphasised.

Today's visit was attended by representatives of the University of Defence and the Military Academy, as well as the commanding officers, teachers and students of the Military High School and the Secondary Vocational Military School.

Recently, all five storeys of the Military High School boarding premises have been renovated, and the dormitories, bathrooms, living rooms and dining room have been completely renovated. The Boarding School, which was built in 1978 and covers more than 10 thousand square meters, has the capacity to accommodate 516 students of the Military High School and Secondary Vocational Military School.
