President Vučić: Serbia most reliable partner, most sincere friend of China

President of the Republic of Serbia and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, prime minister Ana Brnabic, ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Belgrade, Chen Bo, defence minister Aleksandar Vulin and numerous other guests, attended tonight’s ceremony remembering the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, symbolically entitled 'Steel Friendship for Common Prosperity', held at Sava Centre, tonight.
Addressing those present, president Vučić extended message that China has no partner that it is more reliable than Serbia, or a friend that is more sincere. The achievements of Serbia-China friendship are visible at every turn in Serbia, president Vučić said, recalling numerous Chinese investments in our country.

- Our two countries are characterised by outstanding political contacts, mutual understanding and a policy of support on issues of essential state and national interests. For all these projects that I talked about recently, the support of President Xi was crucial – president Vučoć said, adding that that the visit from the Chinese president in 2016 gave a new impulse to increasing the quality of relations between the two countries.

President Vučić said that Serbia today receives both praises and criticism from the international community, but that it is certainly recognised by its friendship with China. We are proud of our friendship with China, as well as our European path, our friendship with Russia and many other countries of the world, he said.

President Vučić recalled that China has always been a principled and constant partner to Serbia in the difficult and unhappy times for Serbia, emphasising that the heroic, suffering gesture of Chinese Embassy officials who stayed in Serbia during the NATO aggression will never be forgotten.

- Serbia is especially grateful to China for supporting our country's territorial integrity and our position on resolving the Kosovo and Metohija issue. China, which also faces the monsters of separatism, can always count on Serbia's consistent support for China's policies. Everything you hear from others who want to say something bad about China, you will never hear from us, Serbian citizens – president Vučić emphasised.

President Vučić said he was proud that Serbia was part of the One Belt, One Road initiative. He particularly emphasized the role of Chinese President Xi Jinping in China's development, the achievement of enormous economic success, the successful fight against poverty and further opening up to the world. As he says, the One Belt, One Way initiative should not only bring development to the Chinese, but hapiness to all nations along the way.

President Vučić emphasised that he was proud that the strategic partnership relations between the two countries are at the highest level in history, and that steel friendship is the basis for further enrichment of cooperation. He said that the extraordinary political contacts between the two countries contribute to mutual understanding and support in matters of state and national interest.

Thanking the Serbian people for sharing the holiday joy with the Chinese people, ambassador Chen Bo said that on the 1st  October this year, China will mark 70 years since its founding, and in these 70 years, in thousands of years of Chinese history, that country recorded great development success and made a strong contribution to world peace and development.

Ambassador Bo reminded of all the ties that link Serbia and China, which make, as she says, “steel friendship” governing their relations. She said that the Chinese people will forever remember the precious support of the Serbian people.

Following the One Belt, One Road initiative, a new era of China-Serbia relations has begun – ambassador Bo said, saying that the Chinese say that mountains and seas do not represent distances for those who share the same ideal.

- Although our two countries are geographically distant, we believe that countries are not divided into big and small, that they are all equal members of the international community, and that all countries have the right to choose their own development paths. We are all committed to resolving disputes through dialogue, to building a new world based on equality, justice and shared prosperity – ambassador Bo said, adding that she is firmly convinced that under the leadership of president Xi Jingping and president Aleksandar Vučić, the Chinese and Serbian people will be even firmer and more united, helping one another.

Members of the Representative Guard Orchestra of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Beijing Association of Musicians and Ensemble of Folk Dances and Songs of Serbia "Kolo"  participated in the programme of the ceremony.
