Meeting of Minister Vulin with Ambassador of Italy
Today, Minister of Defence met Ambassador of Italy Carlo Lo Cascio.
Minister Vulin stressed that transformation of Kosovo Security Forces and establishment of “Armed Forces of Kosovo” was absolutely unacceptable for the Republic of Serbia and that it represented a threat to the entire region and sent the message that KFOR was the only guarantor of security in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija in accordance with Resolution 1244.
Pointing out that the Republic of Serbia appreciated professional engagement of the members of Italian Armed Forces in the KFOR mission in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Vulin expressed his expectation that the Italian soldiers would remain in the southern Serbian province as long as security situation required it.Ambassador Cascio stated that the Italian Republic was also oriented towards continuation of the successful cooperation realised until that moment and that it remained open for an exchange of views and constructive discussion aimed at further strengthening and intensifying the bilateral defence cooperation.
The interlocutors took joint participation of members of Italian Armed Forces and Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operation UNIFIL in Lebanon as an example of highly successful cooperation.
