Reception ceremony for officers after completion of General Staff Course abroad

“We are very proud of the people we have sent to represent us in big and important countries and armies, especially because they returned with the highest awards and highest marks”, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said as he has talked today, together with General Milan Mojsilović, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, with members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who returned from advanced studies abroad.

Minister Vulin emphasized that thanks to the policy of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as the military neutrality of our country, we can learn from all the armies of the world, adapting what is best to our own needs.
- Thanks to the policy of neutrality, we can learn both from the East and the West and apply only what our army needs. No one decides for us anymore – what our strategy and organisation will look like, how we will arm ourselves, how we will present doctrinal and strategic documents. No one decides on behalf of the Serbian Armed Forces and on behalf of the state of Serbia – Minister Vulin said.

Stressing that the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces during their advanced studies abroad have shown distinguished results, as evidenced by the highest marks and commendations, Minister Vulin said that they are expected to give to the armed forces the best they can applying and transfering the knowledge they acquired.

The reception with the Minister of Defence was prepared for Lieutenantt Colonel Srđan Zgonjanin, Miljan Vlašković and Miloje Ilić, who attended the General Staff Course in the Russian Federation and Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Živić, who completed the same kind of studies in Italy.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Miloje Ilić, the demands of the General Staff Course at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are very high and require full-time engagement.

- I completed that academy. It is very interesting because it trains officers for command and operation at the operational and strategic level. After the completion of that school, officers are capable of engaging in all operational and strategic activities of the military and the state in general, when it comes to national security, primarily the military sector – Lieutenant Colonel Ilić said.

Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Živić emphasizes that he is satisfied with the knowledge gained in the General Staff Course in Rome.

- Apart from Italian officers, the schooling includes also officers from around the world. The schooling provides extensive knowledge for the performance of future duties at operational and strategic levels, for command and staff duties. Studies are integrated, and besides the General Staff Course, there are also master studies – Lieutenant Colonel Živić explains, as he spent nine months on advanced studies in Rome.

Today's reception was attended also by Brigadier General Sinisa Kresović, Chief of the Private Office of the Minister of Defence.
