Workshop for the Representatives of Media




 
The Department for Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Belgrade organised a two day workshop for the media representatives which has been opened today in the hotel “Omorika” on the Tara Mountain.
 
The journalists of the most influential media offices in our country and the representatives of the organisational units of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in charge of contacts with media are going to be informed about the most significant aspects of the international military cooperation and the activities of defence system regarding the preparations, organisation and participation in multinational operations of the United Nations and European Union. The public relations experts of the Ministry of Defence and panellists from the country and abroad will speak about the topics pertaining to crisis communication in real situations in the field and about the topics relating to phenomenon of reliability of the sources of journalists’’ information “fake news” and “dark web”.
 
Invitation to take part in the workshop was accepted by: Major General Bojan Zrnić, Head of Department for Defence Technologies, Ambassador Branimir Filipović, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy, Colonel Simon Fitzgibbon, Defence Attaché of the United Kingdom in Serbia, Brigadier General Giuseppe Marinelli, Head of NATO Office, Colonel Douglas Faherty Defense Attaché of the United States of America and Jimmy Leach, British PR Consultant and journalist.
 
In his opening remarks, Head of Department for Public Relations Navy Captain Petar Bošković thanked Colonel Simon Fitzgibbon, British Defence Attaché reminding that similar expert gatherings had been organised for several years in a row owing to excellent mutual understanding and cooperation.
 
- We have used the assistance of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the best possible way so that we as the Ministry of Defence can encourage and strengthen the cooperation with media. This year we are going to organise a regional workshop for representatives of media for the second time, again with a whole-hearted support of the British diplomatic mission. We expect, like it has been so far, to deepen the cooperation and improve media understanding both in the country and region of the topics relating to defence system of the Republic of Serbia – Navy Captain Bošković said and thanked all the participants of the workshop for their readiness to exchange experiences and strengthen mutual ties.
 
During the two day workshop the presentations and discussions will be given by Colonel Mihajlo Zogović PhD, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Bobar and Sanja Jevtović Čanović from Department for Public Relations of the MoD, Saša Živanović former Head of Department for High Technology Crime of the MI of Serbia,  Mladen Stojadinović representative of Department for International Military Cooperation of the MoD, Lieutenant Colonel Goran Topalović from Peacekeeping Operations Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Zečević from Department for Planning and Development of J-5 and Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Nikolić from Department for Training and Doctrine of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces.
