Serbian Armed Forces Trained for Action in Winter Conditions



Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin visited the units of the Serbian Armed Forces and cadets of the Military Academy of the University of Defence who are conducting training in winter conditions on the Kopaonik Mountain.
 
After the talks with the Head of Raška district Nebojšom Simović and President of Raška municipality Ignjat Rakitić, Minister Vulin attended the winter conditions training at the 51st ski track of the Serbian Armed Forces and the training of the Military Academy cadet’s at the track Mali Karaman, after which he talked with the cadets. After touring the accommodation facilities at the 51st ski track of the Serbian Armed Forces, the minister underlined that the members of the Serbian Armed Forces would in the forthcoming period pay special attention to training.
 
- Our physical fitness will be even better than it is now. Today, we are here with the cadets, the future officers and the elite of our armed forces. All who join the defence system, starting from the Military Grammar School, to Military Academy, deserve the best conditions and the best training and they are the elite not only of our armed forces but of our society. They have been through the history and they will be in the future. In the upcoming period the Ministry of Defence will invest significant resources in improving the training and working conditions of all our members and particularly of our pupils and cadets, because the military elite that is being educated here is the pride of the Serbian Armed Forces and the state of Serbia – stated the minister of defence.
 
Commander of the camp Navy Captain Vladimir Milinkov reminded that at the 51st ski track of the Serbian Armed Forces there were units of the Military Police Battalion for Special Purposes, units of the Training Command and cadets of the 141st Class of the Military Academy, of the programme of study Logistics of Defence, Defence Management and Public Finance.
 
- There are 75 cadets on the training divided into eight ski groups and they are going through all the training contents and through several subjects, including physical education, ski training, Alpine skiing exclusively. There are also topography, orientation, and patrol movement in winter conditions in unfamiliar terrain, as well as tactical training – putting up shelters in the winter and the subject dealing with armament with shooting – said Navy Captain Vladimir Milinkov and added that in the process there were no particular problems and that the cadets would stay on the Kopaonik Mountain for fourteen days, and that everything was carried out according to the plan for the execution of camping.
 
President of Raška municipality Ignjat Rakitić expressed his satisfaction with the fact that it had been the second time in the short period that the minister of defence visited a territory of that municipality.
 
- I have to admit that this is one of the nicest working days and an opportunity to go out in the nature and attend the nice things. Today, we have seen the future officers who demonstrated their skiing skills and I am very proud because they conduct the training in the territory of our municipality. I particularly wish to express the satisfaction with the continuation of the good cooperation between Raška municipality and the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, and that is what we discussed at the meeting which was highly successful and which will result in the continuation of development of Kopaonik as one of the most beautiful winter resorts in this part of the Balkans – said the President of Raška municipality Ignjat Rakitić.
 
More than thousand members of the Serbian Armed Forces, cadets of the Military Academy and the pupils of the Military Grammar School undergo different forms of training at the 51st Ski track.
