New Head of the NATO Office took over duty



Нови шеф НАТО канцеларије преузео дужностItalian Brigadier General Cesare Marinelli took over the post of Head of NATO Military Liaison Office from Brigadier General Lucio Batta at the handover ceremony held today in the Central Military Club.

The event was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Chief of Staff of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Lieutenant General Leonardo di Marco, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Serbian Armed Forces, the Government and diplomatic corps.

"NATO and Serbia have a number of practical co-operation programs and the Alliance remains committed to deepening our relations in areas of mutual interest," Brigadier General Marinelli said. and the Serbian Armed Forces in the further implementation of the reform of the defence system," the new Head of the NATO office added.

Brigadier General Batta completed his two-year term as the head of the office which he also headed in 2008. "I welcome the commitment of the Serbian authorities to the development of our partnership and I wish success to Brigadier General Marinelli and his associates in their future work," said Brigadier General Batta at the ceremony.

Brigadier General Marinelli is the seventh Head of the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade since its establishment in December 2006. The office facilitates cooperation between Serbia and NATO within the Partnership for Peace Programme, helps the reform of the defence system and supports activities in the field of public diplomacy.
