Improving military cooperation with Belarus



Delegation of the Ministry of Defence, headed by Head of the International Military Cooperation Department Captain Milan Konjikovac, stayed in Minsk where they attended bilateral defence consultations with the Republic of Belarus. The head of the Belarusian delegation was Major-General Oleg Leonidovich Voinov, Head of International Military Cooperation Department and Assistant Minister of Defence for Military Policy.

During their conversation, they exchanged opinions on all current military-political and security issues, analysed the cooperation between the two defence ministries and the two armed forces, and discussed modalities for further development and improvement of cooperation in the field of defence.

Captain Konjikovac expressed satisfaction with the progress of defence cooperation. He stressed the importance of maintaining the continuity of high-level visits in the future, adding that the strong impetus in this regard will be provided by the agreed official visit of Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic to Belarus.

General Voinov expressed his satisfaction with the application of similar principled policies of the two sides in order to overcome the challenges and threats that threaten peace and security in the regions of both countries. He informed his interlocutor about the results of the reform processes in the Ministry of Defence of Belarus, with a special emphasis on military educational institutions.

Both sides agreed that there is much room for development of mutually beneficial forms of cooperation in other areas as well, particularly in the field of military-military cooperation, through joint exercises, military economic and scientific-technical cooperation, as well as in the field of military medicine.

During the talks, they agreed on and signed the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2016.

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia visited the Military Academy of Belarus, which in its formation combines 11 different faculties, and the Scientific Research Institute.
