Two meter tall bass player with the rank of a Junior Sergeant
131st Infantry Class of Reserve Officers has two two-meter-tall Junior Sergeants – one is 2, 11 m tall and the other 2, 05 m. The taller one is Pavle Koprivica from Vrbas, and the other is Milan Jevtovic from Uzice. When these two impressive figures stand at the head of the line, they are every unit’s pride. However, Milan Jevtovic is better known for his music and guitar than for his height: he is a renowned rocker from Uzice, a member of the band called “Hadzi prodane duse”, a rock musician who has no trouble doing military service.
Milan has graduated from the Law Faculty in Belgrade, and has a rock career of many years behind him. He plays bass in “Hadzi prodane duse”, which he co-founded. They have performed in many festivals, concerts, clubs, playing the so-called garage rock. Milan does not break his connection to the bend even during his army service: he uses his every free day in Uzice to prepare new songs with them.
This young man has been doing his military service at the Infantry Class of Reserve Officers, at the Military Academy in Banjica, within the Cadet Brigade. He has passed all of his exams, spending his day at Pasuljanske Livade and other difficult training grounds. Now he has the rank of Junior Sergeant and he will advance: next comes the two-month internship, and then, at the end of August, promotion of new second lieutenants in reserve.
He believes that rock music and military uniform do not clash: “I don’t understand the bewilderment following my decision to do military service; I guess it would make sense for all of us to join the Military. I have long stood my ground that school, military, getting married and parenthood is the real order for men, and that it shouldn’t be changed. Perhaps this is a part of tradition in Uzice, family upbringing, and a personal view on life. I have learned valuable thing in the Military, met great guys and girls from all over Serbia, and gained many experiences and better condition. This has been a great episode of my life, and I firmly believe that others should experience the Military as well”, Jevtovic said.
Milan’s superior, Lieutenant Colonel Zoranco Davitkov, Head of the Class of Reserve Officers, had nothing but the best to say about the entire 131st Infantry Class. In his assessment, those men and women are highly motivated for military service. Speaking about Jevtovic, Davitkov pointed out that he show interest for every task and is included in many extracurricular activities: he trains others to play the guitar and gladly participates in programs and gatherings.
