Signing Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan with Austria



As part of the regular activities, in the Ministry of Defence today, a meeting on Defence Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Austria in 2013 was held, as well as the final coordination of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2014.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of cooperation in the field of defence and the tendency of further qualitative improvement. The cooperation is characterized with high level meetings and regular bilateral security and defence consultations, as confirmation of the high level of understanding between the two countries.

Gratitude was expressed to the Republic of Austria for the support to the Republic of Serbia on the road to European integration and professional engagement of members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Austria within KFOR in contributing to stability and achieving the lasting peace.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia has shown interest for the exchange of experiences regarding security and defence aspects of joining the EU, engagement in the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy and the European Defence Agency.

Planned activities in 2014 provide extension of cooperation in the fields of training and development, preparation for participation in multinational operations, military history, logistics, CBRN and military medicine.

At the end of the meeting, Colonel Milan Konjikovac, Acting Chief of the Department for International Military Cooperation, and Colonel Thomas Ahammer, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Austria in Belgrade, signed the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the two defence ministries for 2014.
