Main Planning Conference on military cooperation between Serbia and the United States



At the Ministry of Defence, the Main Conference for planning activities for bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and the United States of America for fiscal 2015 was held.

The conference was attended by members of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the United States, from the composition of the U.S. European Command and the Ohio National Guard.

They analyzed the results of the previous cooperation, guidelines derived from the conclusions of the working visits at the highest level, the problems that arose during the implementation of activities in the past period and the needs of the defence system, and in accordance with that they consolidated numerous activities and areas of cooperation for the fiscal year 2015 (1 October 2014 – 31 September 2015, respectively).

It was concluded that there is still room for qualitative improvement of cooperation, which is seen in a number of harmonised activities, aimed primarily at the joint exercises, training and development of the "South" base, the development of the NCO corps and others, but also at new areas of cooperation such as development of the Centre for the Lessons Learned, exchange of experiences and solutions in the field of cyber space and the possibility of joint deployment of medical teams. The focus of future cooperation is focused primarily on the continued support of defence reform and improving the operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

At the end of the working part of the conference, Colonel Milan Konjikovac, Acting Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, and Colonel Paul Brotzen, US Defence Attaché in Belgrade signed the new Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for fiscal year 2015.
