Signing of Protocol on Donation by the Kingdom of Norway




A three-member delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway, headed by Astrid Setsaas, Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Defence, paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, from 10 to 13 March.

On the first day of the visit, there was a meeting between the representatives of the Military Health Department, led by Colonel Prof. Dr. Predrag Romic, and the Norwegian delegation with representatives of the World Advanced Trauma Life Support Association – ATLS. The Kingdom of Norway has expressed interest in supporting the implementation of ATLS procedures and courses in Serbia, after which the Republic of Serbia would be given opportunity to join this global organization as 22nd European country.

During the visit, there was a meeting of the Serbia – Norway Joint Working Group, where they discussed the additional equipping of the Deployable Medical Facility Role 2 and the priorities of military medical cooperation between the two countries in the forthcoming period. Military medical cooperation is one of the focal areas of bilateral military cooperation between the Ministries of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Norway.

Representatives of the Norwegian delegation visited the CBRN PTC in Krusevac, where they were introduced to the capacities of the Centre and visited the RC laboratory, for which additional equipping the Kingdom of Norway will allocate funds in the amount of EUR 13,000.

Protocol on Donation by the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway for additional equipping of the Deployable Medical Facility Role 2 has been signed today in Belgrade between Brigadier General Dr. Zoran Popovic and Astrid Setsaas, Senior Adviser at the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway. The donation amounts to EUR 160,000 and is intended for the purchase of additional equipment for the Deployable Medical Facility Role 2. After completion of the equipping, it was provided that the hospital be put into operation with the Balkan Military Medical Task Force.

The signing of the protocol on donation is the result of the recently conducted bilateral defence consultations held in Oslo, from 4 to 6 February 2014.
