345 million dinars provided for housing loans

The Ministry of Defence continues in 2014 with the Long-Term Housing Loan Programme for professional military personnel with the best interest rates in the market. Funding appropriated for that purpose in the defence budget is 345 million dinars.

The Long-Term Housing Loan Programme for professional military personnel was approved by the Serbian Government on 14 February 2014, and it was sent to banks with an invitation to sign the contracts.

The first contract has already been signed with the Societe Generale bank and, according to the announcements from the National Corporation for Provision of Housing Loans, AIK Bank and Piraeus Bank have announced the signing of contracts.

The most important feature of the Programme is the retained interest rate up to maximum six-month EURIBOR plus 3.5 percent per annum, which represents the best interest rate in the market.

Other benefits of the Programme in relation to other commercial housing loans are that there is no age limit at the time of application, and that approving of the loan is not conditional on the initial deposit of the beneficiary. Repayment of the loan can be done until the beneficiary’s age of 70 and the real estate to be bought does not have to be newly built, which are also advantages in comparison to other subsidized loans.

In this way, up to now, 1337 professional military personnel solved their housing problems, and it is expected that 300 to 350 people more solve their housing problems this year.
