Cooperation with European Defence Agency signed
Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Catherine Ashton , who is also the Acting Director of the European Defence Agency , signed an administrative cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the European Defence Agency in Brussels.
Minister Rodic said that the European Defence Agency is crucial for the construction of military and civilian capabilities through the development of initiatives and programs , while the cooperation programs of the European Defence Agency is a good way to reach the goal of capacity development that Serbia could achieve independently.Cooperation with the European Defence Agency will enhance interoperability between Serbia and the EU Member States and facilitate the strengthening of the domestic defense industry and the research potential of Serbian institutes and technological modernization of the armed forces , and therefore the improvement of military and defense capabilities .
Minister Rodic stressed that active involvement in the concept of common security and defense policy of the EU 's foreign policy contributed to the improvement of the position of Serbia , as well as the Ministry of Defence will continue to participate actively in the operations of EU crisis management EUNAVFOR - Atalanta and EUTM Somalia .
Representatives of the European Union have been acquainted with the interests and needs of Serbia for cooperation in the field of the Common Security and Defence Policy.
