Workshop on public diplomacy

Simone de Manso and Stephen Meringer with the Public Diplomacy Division of NATO held today in the Media Center "Odbrana” a workshop on public diplomacy organized by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence. The workshop was attended by officers and military officers who are in command of the Army of Serbia and institutions and the Ministry of Defence in public relations and civil- military cooperation.

After the welcome address by Colonel Peter Boskovic , Head of Public Relations , the participants were addressed via video link from Brussels by Gerlinda Najhus , Head of the Public Diplomacy Department of NATO . She informed the participants during the presentation of the basic facts about the organization and function of public diplomacy of the alliance .

Simone de Manso gave a lecture on the NATO practice in dealing with the media . She paid special attention to the use of modern information technology in the design and selection of media content , and a tendency of reducing the role of journalists as creators of media content .

In the second part of the workshop , Stephen Meringer gave a presentation on the potential of NATO in creating multimedia content for different media and the Alliance’s use of social networks to communicate with the public .
