Zastava film marks its jubilee



The military movie centr Zastava celebrated 65 years of its existence today. The ceremony on occasion of marking the day of this institution-14 November, was attended by the representatives of the ministry of defence and SAF together with numerous other associates and friends of Zastava.

Congratulating the employees this day the Chief of the Public relations Department Colonel Petar Boskovic stressed that Zastava also deserves a place in the public scene especially in the film industry as it has lasted for over 6 decades.

Today, Zastava Film should also concentrate on other forms, information activities, documentary, archives and educational films. These are three area where we should base new organizational changes of this institution. When we speak of Zastava film the key word is continuation, and we should work on preserving the brand name of Zastava film as Colonel Boskovic commented.

Director of Zastava film Lt Col Mate Vujnovic said that each of 65 years has left its mark in time, its trace on the shelves of the archives and in the history of the Yugoslav and Serbian cinematography.

In the following year we shall continue to realize our key tasks in the field of information, film, video, and multimedia production the most important being preserving film and film industry in the defence system as Vujnovic said.

Acknowledgment plaques for exceptional and comprehensive cooperation Zastava film has awarded to the Academy of Arts in Belgrade and the crew of the show Dozvolite, as well as the 204th aviation brigade, the River Flotilla, Media Center odbrana and the author and host of the show Dozvolite Nenad Pezo.

The history of Zastava started in summer 1948 when the section for film production was established in the Yugoslav army in Belgrade. First movies were film reviews of the Yugoslav army-chronicle and comments of the army and social life. Today’s name “Zastava film” became official in 1962. VFC gained numerous prized and acknowledgments in international and home festivals.
