US DOD donation to the MMA

On occasion of donation of the lab and diagnostic equipment within the DAPP-Department of Def3ence HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program the delegation of this country’s embassy headed by deputy ambassador of US to Belgrade Gordon Dagid, visited the Military Medical Academy today.
Expressing their satisfaction with continuing a long-standing successful cooperation with the US Department of Defence Head of MMA Brig Gen Marjan Novakovic, MD stressed that thanks to understanding their friends and colleagues it is possible to continue monitoring the latest trends in prevention, diagnostics and therapy of this debilitating and grave disease.

This year’s donation of some 85 000 USD helped us to procure sophisticated and latest lab equipment and tests of the latest generation which will be used by the Institute for medical research of the MMA. Another contribution is an educational movie which is to be shown to the members of SAF.

Deputy US Ambassador Gordon Dagid reminded that today’s donation was yet another confirmation of cooperation which started back in 2005 within which his country donated 811000 USD worth of equipment.

This equipment is mostly intended for the prevention of HIS and AIDS as a way of contributing to a new level of awareness when it comes to this illness. I am impressed with the efforts you have made so far in battling this illness as Dagid said adding that given the commitment of that institution to battling this illness, he expected fruitful cooperation of many years, its main goal being prevention and reducing its effects.

After the screening of the movie on MMA prof Vesna Suljagic, MD Chief of the Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Section spoke about the prevention and control of hospital infections in SAF after the guests from the US visited the Institute for Medical research and saw a film AIDS in the military which was filmed with the help of this donation.
