Cooperation with Romania in the field of traffic and transport



Delegation of the Romanian Armed Forces is on visit to the Department of Traffic and Transportation, General Logistics, Department of Material Resources, Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, from 28 October to 1 November. The members of the delegation are Colonel Grama Nekulai, Head of the Traffic Coordination Centre, Joint Logistic Command, Romanian Armed Forces, and Colonel Popteanu Sorin, Head of the Department of Traffic and Land Transport, Traffic Coordination Centre Joint Logistic Command, Romanian Armed Forces.

The aim of the visit is to exchange experiences on the organization of military traffic and transportation for the purpose of participation in multinational operations, coordination and control of movement, transit of military transport through Serbia, regulation of foreign military transport of hazardous materials and oversized cargo, and civil- military cooperation in the field of traffic and transport.

Head of Delegation of the Romanian Armed Forces presented the structure of the traffic support bodies in the Romanian Armed Forces, with an emphasis on coordination and control of movement and experiences during the engagement in peacekeeping operations.

During the visit, the delegation made a tour of the Department for Logistics of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, where they were briefed about the structure and responsibilities of the units and in the Serbian Armed Forces in the field of traffic and transportation, and procedures related to the transit of foreign troops through the territory of the Republic of Serbia.The expert talks, in the area of civil- military cooperation in the field of traffic and transportation, were attended by the Chief Inspector of the Department for Transport of Dangerous Goods, Branko Vukobratovic, Director of the Directorate for transportation of goods and passengers of the "Serbian Railways" JSC, Marko Stjepanovic and desk officer for military transportation Ljuba Miletic. It was concluded that it is necessary to continue the bilateral military cooperation, especially with regard to the exchange of experiences on realisation of strategic transport as one of the initial goals of the Partnership for Peace, and implementation of coordination and control of movement.
