Support for the European course of Serbia is priority of Italian Foreign Policy



Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta expressed today in Ancona hope that Serbia will be the next member of the EU.

At a joint press conference after the meeting with Letta in Ancona , where the third joint meeting of the governments of Serbia and Italy is held, Dacic pointed out that Italy is the greatest friend to Serbia in the West, and expressed his gratitude to that country for the support it renders to Serbia, as well as the expectation that it will be continued in the forthcoming period.

Letta emphasized that Italy will continue to support Serbia on its path towards the European Union, which, when it comes to the Italian foreign policy , is the Italian national priority.

We wish Serbia to become the 29th European star, the Italian Prime Minister said.

The Third Serbia - Italy Summit began with a joint meeting between the Prime Minister Dacic and Letta and between the Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Angelino Alfano.

The Serbian delegation also comprises Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selakovic , Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic, Minister of Defence Nebojsa Rodic, Minister of Energy, Development and the Environment Zorana Mihajlovic and the Minister of Education , Science and Technology Development Tomislav Jovanovic.

The Serbian delegation was officially welcomed in Ancona , in front of the Leopardi Palace, with the anthems of the two countries and military honors .

After the talks, Dacic and Letta chaired a joint meeting of the two governments.

In the third summit in Ancona, previous results will be summarized and the next steps to improve cooperation between the two countries will be agreed.

Delegations of Serbia and Italy will sign protocols between the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and Justice, and the international agreement in the field of road transport is expected to be signed.
