Visit to Serbian- Russian humanitarian center in Nis



Serbian Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic met today with the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Vladimir Puckov in Nis. The meeting was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Cepurin, Nis Mayor Zoran Perisic, Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations Predrag Maric, members of the delegation of the Russian Federation, members of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the City of Nis.

On this occasion, members of the delegations visited the Nis Airport "Constantin the Great" where the Serbian-Russian humanitarian centre for responding to emergency situations is based and attended the demonstration flight of the Russian fire-fighting aircraft Beriev Be-200. During the fire fighting exercise, Beriev Be-200 dumped water over the runway of Nis Airport. Filling the tank with a capacity of 12 tons of water can be done at the airport but also flying low over the lake or river.

After the demonstration flight, in the City Hall in Nis, the ministers and members of the Serbian and Russian delegations talked on the progress of the Centre and its registration, the possibility of using part of the Nis military barracks "Stevan Sindjelić" for the needs of the Centre, equipping and storage capacities of the airport for the assets of the Centre.

At the beginning of the year, in Nis, Prime Minister Dacic and Minister Puckov signed conclusions on the functioning of the Centre, which should start operating at full capacity by the end of the year
