MoD delegation at the meeting of the US-Adriatic Charter political directors



Delegation of the Ministry of Defense led by Deputy Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic, participated in the meeting of political directors of the US-Adriatic Charter (A5) in Podgorica. During the meeting they discussed the rationalization and priorities of joint projects in the region and representatives of A5 also discussed opportunities for joint participation in Afghanistan after ISAF Mission .

Participants were informed about the status of declared national capacities in regional purposes and noted the importance of rationalization of regional cooperation projects during the economic crisis. This will be the topic of conversation in the future , especially in the forthcoming Comprehensive regional meeting in Brdo (Slovenia ) in early October 2013.

Assistant Minister Jovanovic emphasized the support to all joint regional projects that contribute to regional stability and security. He reminded participants of all the capacities the Republic of Serbia offers for use at regional level, such as the Center for Peacekeeping Operations , Jug Base , University of Defence , Military Academy , TRZ Kragujevac and CBRD Center in Krusevac , which was recently awarded the status of Partner Center training and education. Furthermore Jovanovic stressed the importance of rational use of resources that regional countries have, especially given the difficult economic situation.

During the meeting they discussed the future cooperation of South Eastern Europe Clearinghouse( SEEC ~ ~) , and the current projects under this initiative. It was noted that discussions about the future of SEEC can serve as an introduction to redefining the role of regional initiatives in South East Europe.

The US-Adriatic Charter is a regional security group, a strategic partnership formed on the initiative of the United States , with the aim of strengthening regional security and stability and rapid inclusion into European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The Charter of Partnership between the United States , Albania, Croatia and Macedonia was signed on 2 May 2003, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro joined in December 2008. since 3 December 2005 Serbia has had the status of observer country.
