State Secreatry Nikolic meets with Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defence Evelyn Farkas



Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia, led by Secretary of State Alexander Nikolic, met today with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the United States, Dr. Evelyn Farkas.

"We are pleased that we have held effective and constructive meetings that are the result of the continuous improvement of cooperation between Serbia and the United States in the field of defense," said Secretary of State Nikolic.

This is the second time since April that high ranking officials of the two countries' defense ministers have met, after the success of bilateral defense consultations held in Washington, DC and in which the agreed key areas of cooperation in the next two years.

Serbian delegation conveyed gratitude for their support and assistance in the reform of the defense system, which is an important element of a strong and productive bilateral relations between our two countries.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence, Dr Farkas estimated that Serbia was an active, serious and reliable partner of the U.S. in the field of defense and agreed that the United States will continue to support Serbia in practical forms of bilateral military cooperation, such as joint military exercises and training.

The two sides also discussed the continuation of American aid when it comes to the development of national training center in the military base Jug and military modernization. Both sides reiterated their commitment to continue to send the MoD/SAF staff to attend training course in the United States.

The Serbian delegation conveyed thanks for US sincere support to the integration of Serbia into the European Union and the implementation of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
