PELT seminar for teachers of English



A three-day seminar on "Teaching methods and development of teaching materials by combination of traditional methods and modern information technology" was held in Tara mountain, organised in cooperation between PELT Directorate of Personnel Department of MoD Human Resources Sector and Defence and the British Council in Belgrade from the earmarked funds of PELT donor countries (Kingdom of Norway, the Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden and the USA).

The seminar was attended by English language teachers from the Group for English Language of the SAF GS Department for Training and Doctrine (J-7), from the Department of Foreign Languages of the Military Academy and the National STANAG Team for Testing of PELT Directorate.

The aim of the seminar was methodical-professional preparation of teachers of English language in acquiring new methods of designing courses by combining classical teaching classes and distance learning (Blended Learning Course Design) for the efficient implementation of semi-intensive and intensive English language courses that are part of cycle for preparation of SAF members to be tested according to STANAG 6001.

The lectures were held by an expert in the field of training and testing of English language for members of the armed forces, Claire Whitaker, qualified PEP (Peacekeeping English Project) Manager of the British Council. Her lectures were intended to inform participants of the seminar on teaching techniques using military terminology, methodology of distance learning, the development of materials for electronic English language courses in the Self-Access Centres (SAC).

At the seminar, training of teachers was conducted in the four skills of teaching: listening, speaking, reading and writing. At the end of the seminar students were presented certificates.
