International Conference Buidling Integrity in Defence ends



At the International Conference on Building Integrity in defense NATO Building Integrity Conference 2013, which ended in Monterey today Assistant Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic gave a presentation on "Human Resource Management in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces."

In the exposes, a normative framework was presented along with functional responsibilities, procedures, and mechanisms of multiple decision making in the management of human resources in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Assistant Minister stressed the importance of adopting a new model of professional selection and the code of honor of the Army of Serbia to improve the level of integrity in the defense system.

A special part of the conference was dedicated to the self-assessment of the state of integrity in the defense of the Republic of Serbia and the open process of information sharing with NATO expert team. Mr. Jovanovic mentioned the positive reviews received by the defense system and said that in a letter by NATO Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Dirk Brengelmann that the self-assessment procedure applied was said to be “an example of Serbia's commitment to good practice that sends a strong message to other states of the SEDM Cooperation Process Southeast to enhance transparency, accountability and integrity under within the defense and security sector. "

- In the future the Ministry of Defence will be even more actively engaged in building integrity and combating corruption, in cooperation with other state agencies, partner countries, international organizations and civil society, he said Jovanovic.

During the conference, key speakers were: NATO Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Dirk Brengelmann, Interim President of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey Rear Admiral Jan Tighe, Commander Allied Commander Transformation General Jean-Paul Palomeros, representatives of several organizational NATO units responsible for combating corruption as well as representatives of the defense system of a large number of participating countries.
