Exhibition "Memories from the army" opens in Pozarevac

The unique exhibition "Memories from the army," which saw more than 5000 visitors during Museum Nights in the Central Military Club, was today opened in the Gallery of National Museum in Pozarevac by Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, Head of Public Affairs Department of the Ministry of Defence.

The event, among others, was also attended by the mayor of Pozarevac Miomir Ilic, Politika daily critic and author of the catalog Ljubodrag Stojadinovic, and Lt. Col. Slavoljub Markovic, Director of Media Center "Odbrana".

While opening the exhibition, which is the result of successful cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia with Pozarevac Historical Archives and the National Museum, Colonel Pajovic said that memories of the army not only unskilled tattooes on the forearm, with names of the now exotic cities of Pula, Porec, Konjic, Novo Mesto, or Djevdjelija.

These are not just kitschy mounted photographs depicting young recruits with little moustache and painted roses under the tie and above the name of photo shop, or just memories of the night watch, a soldier's constant desire for sleep, for a second helping, for his time in the service to be shortened and for a leave, going out into the city or for a letter - said the Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence, who until recently had served as commander of the Pozarevac garrison.

In a n obvious literary tone, which was greeted with applause, he confirmed that the memories from the military are - sometimes beautiful memories, full of yearning, of a youth who serves his motherland from his deepest conviction and also by obeying the law..

Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic, Director of the Media Center “Odbrana”, pointed out that the city of Pozarevac is a city with a long military tradition, and that this event is just a logical continuation of cooperation with the city, which started in March, with an exhibition of military movie posters.

The original exhibition, by Zoran Zivkovic, who will be at the Gallery of National Museum of Pozarevac will be open until 28 June, represents motives of the military on that in a humorous and nostalgic way reflect the time in which they occur, the pride of the soldiers in that period of their life and the creativity of local photographers.

The exhibition includes hundreds of photos and visitors, just as in the Museum Night enabled cameras to make their "memories from the military" immortal in the way they did it the old photographs using photo-boards.
