MoD delegation visits Israel



Delegation of the Ministry of Defense headed by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Dr Tanja Miscevic paid a visit to the State of Israel Ministry of Defense from19th to 22nd February.

During meetings with the Director General of Israeli Ministry of Defense, Major General Udi Saniye, director of the Bureau of Defense Policy, Major General Amos Galido and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Raffi Barak, both sides that there was mutual interest to promote and intensify bilateral military cooperation that will be the key to cooperation between Serbia and Israel in the future.

On that occasion, Secretary of State Miscevic acquaintd them with the process of reform in the Republic of Serbia, with reforms of military education and health care, as well as with the participation of MoD and SAF in international missions. The delegations also exchanged information on political and security situation in the Western Balkans and the Middle East.

Serbian Ministry of Defence has expressed readiness for cooperation in military education and health as well as in other areas of common interest.

Serbia MoD’s imitative to promote cooperation is concretized in proposals for future cooperation-continuation of the military industry cooperation, joint training of special forces and military police units, education and training, and exchange experiences in the RCBD.

It was jointly concluded that it was necessary to define the legal framework for future cooperation by signing a new agreement on defense cooperation, which would provide an opportunity to be on a reciprocal basis, the realization of particular activities greatly simplified.

During the visit to Israel, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence visited the memorial “Yad Vashem'', and laid a wreath in honor of the Jews perished in the Holocaust. At a meeting with the director of the Memorial Center archives Dr. Haim Gartner, it was agreed that the representatives of the memorial “Yad Vashem'' should visit the Military Archives, in mid-April this year, when a cooperation agreement between the two institutions will also be signed, and future dynamics and methodology of cooperation will be defined.

Furthermore this will be an opportunity to sign the Bilateral Military cooperation Plan for 2012.

Establishing a strategic dialogue between the two ministries of defense is of particular importance for future cooperation. As a result of successful talks both sides confirmed the readiness to organize the meeting of the two ministers of defense.
