Concert "Our children"



Accompanied by the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense, "Stanislav Bini?ki" the now already traditional concert "Our Children" performed by children whose parents are employed or retired members of the Defense Ministry and the Serbian Army was held last night in the Central Military Club. Special support to young talents was given by Merima Njegomir and Zeljko Samardzic, and sisters Marija and Marina Gobovic.

Tonight's concert was attended by Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Serbian Army Chief of General Staff Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Dikovic, members of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, as well as numerous personalities from public life and cultural capital.

The music program was hosted by actor Predrag Vasic, Stanoje, a boy from the movie "Montevideo", and the evening was opened by addressing the audience with an appropriate replica of the start of the film:

"True, but people differ only by footwear. Many people know this but then they forget, when they grow up. As we forget to love and to rejoice and to dream. Life is when have a dream and when you believe in it. And when you make the dream come true then you beat time. "

The honor to open this year's concert was given to nine-year old Viktor Radojevic who performed the first opus of Rieding’s concerto for violin and orchestra. After Viktor Emilia Matic in Belgrade, a 12-year old presented herself on the piano and played Chopin's Waltz in C sharp minor, while 12-year old from Kraljevo Marija Colovic Dankl variations for violin and orchestra.

The youngest participant in this year's concert was Andjelija Momcilovic from Belgrade who is six, butalready singing in Vrapcici children’s choir, who perfornmed, "You and Me" accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra. Immediately after her, Ana Doroski from Belgrade, aged 20, has gained applause with a song "I cannot take my eyes off of you" accompanied by the orchestra.

Twenty-four-year Milena Roknic, the oldest participant of the meeting presented the musical composition "Put putujem" a rendition by pop group Magazin, also accompanied by the orchestra .

This year, as special guests, twins Mariaj and Marina Gobovic performed a well known song by Neda Ukraden "Zora je." Eleven year old Mina Jovanovic performed "Kosava", a song originally performed by Jelena Tomasevic and accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra.

The dance part of the evening was marked by a young couple of dancers Kristina Rikic and Aleksandar Petljanski from Novi Sad, who are only 11 years old and this time they danced tango.

A beautiful girl from Belgrade Sanela Adili, 20 years old, thrilled the audience with her interpretation of "Loui" by group Vaya con Dios, accompanied by orchestra.

Continuation of the concert was devoted to old, original and folk songs, and which was opened by another special guest Merima Njegomir who sang "Nocas nisu sijale." Then it Tamara Lackovic from Belgrade, a 19-year old took the stage with the original performance of "More dodjose mi moji veli gosti, “while "Sve dok je plavog oka tvoga," was performed by an 18-year old Anja Sukunda from Belgrade, accompanied by the symphony orchestra.

Eleven-year old Milana Prodanovic sang "Usnila dubok sanak sa Kosova ravna," and followed by the orchestra. Angela Tasic, although only 11, is well known to the audience from the capital, so this time she sang the original song'' Jecam zela'' accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra.

Everyone in the audience recalled the songs from Kostana in the performance of Katarina Lazic, a beautiful 16 year old girl from Belgrade and the song'' Zajdi zajdi” accompanied by the orchestra.

Stefan Jelic who is 18 years old and comes from Uzice, enraptured the audience with his musicality and virtuosity on the accordion by performing a medley of folk dances accompanied by the orchestra.

"Sta ce mi zivot bez tebe dragi," was performed tonight by 16 year old Marijana Celar from Beocin, she was accompanied by the symphony orchestra.

Although this may be a ferocious winter, Bogdan Markovic, only 14 years old, warmed up the hearts of the audience with his performance of "Merakli" cocek reel on clarinet, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense, "Stanislav Bini?ki".

Addressing the crowd in the Central Military Club, minister Sutanovac said that the idea for this concert originated three years ago in an attempt to turn it into a tradition and we can see it last year on year attracting even more audience and performers.

- What is particularly important and we are very pleased that all of them, including Zeljko Samardzic, in fact, are "our children", i.e., children of men from the defense system, who , although they have low income, set aside money for their to be educated in music. Today the defense of Serbia is not only in the Ground Safety Zone, today Serbia’s defense zone is in our identity, our culture, our values and these children are the future of Serbia - said Minister Sutanovac.
