Exhibition “Serbian flags from the Balkan wars and First World War" opened in Cacak

On the occasion of National Day National Day of Serbia, the National Museum in Cacak, under the auspices of the Serbian government, opened a representative exhibition of the Military Museum in Belgrade, "Serbian flags from the Balkan wars and First World War."

The exhibition, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, veterans associations, Moravian districts and municipalities Cacak, opened a representative of the Serbian Government State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Igor Jovicic, who pointed out that the setting is one in series of events that are sponsored by the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, held in Kragujevac, Nis, Belgrade, Vranje and Cacak.

National Day of Serbia is linked to two fundamentally important events in our military history and constitutional law, the First Serbian Uprising in 1804 and the declaration of Serbian Constitution of Sretenje in 1815, said Igor Jovicic.

- Military flags have always been a symbol of being a part of a state, of the army and military honor. The existence, appearance and use of today's military flag, among other military characteristics of the Serbian Army has also adopted visual identity standards, by obeying a several century-long tradition of Serbian military from earlier periods of the Serbian people and time, thus presenting the persistence, courage and faith of Serbian troops in their country . The current exhibition is representative of the Military Museum which provides us with a unique the opportunity to meet with Serbian military flags as the highest symbols of the state of that time. At the outbreak of the Balkan wars in 1911 new military flags were introduced into the Kingdom of Serbia, made of 51 regimental flags handed to these regiments by Serbian King Peter I and the minister of military General Stepa Stepanovic. "The flag is sacred symbol of military honor and duty," as Stepa Stepanovic stated then. With that flag the Serbian army won freedom in two Balkan wars and First World War, and now they can the citizens of Cacak can see and honor them as well, said State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Igor Jovicic.

A new concept of marking the National Day of Serbia, within which representative exhibitions in several cities in Serbia have been organized, highlights culture, education, science and art, and, this concept was further supported by the National Museum of Cacak which hosts this exhibition
