Signal Brigade donates 5,000 protective face masks to “Karaburma“ Covid hospital

The “Karaburma“ military Covid hospital has received 5,000  ′′self-cleaning′′ silver barrier face masks from the Signal Brigade, Telecommunications and IT Department, Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, to help suppress the Covid-19 epidemic.

Colonel Dragiša Zlatković, the Signal Brigade Deputy Commander, explains that this unit has received 10,000 protective face masks through a donation agreement with the manufacturer, the “Koloid“ company, Zemun, and decided to distribute them to the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who need them the most.
- We decided to distribute 5,000 of the 10,000 donatedface masks to SAF units and 5,000 to the “Karaburma” Covid hospital, i.e. to those individuals who are exposed to the Covid-19 diseasethe most - said Colonel Zlatković, thanking the representatives of the “Koloid” company for the donation and all medical professionals in Serbia for helping fight the coronavirus.

The commander of the "Karaburma" military Covid hospital, Colonel Ivo Udovičić, MD, notes that this health institution has been taking care of Covid patients continuously since March last year.

- Since the hospital started operating, we have had enough protective equipment thanks to the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Health. We really have not lackedanything for a single moment and we have had everything we needed so far - said Colonel Udovičić, emphasizing that the protective face masks they received today are of exceptional quality and will help a lot in further work.

Ms Ema Gocević, the Marketing Director of the "Koloid" company points out that self-cleaning barrier silver face masks are a new product that the company developed in October last year in cooperation with "Galenika Farmacija" and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and that they are an improved type of protection against pathogenic microorganisms.

- The "Koloid" company has been using silver ion nanotechnology for 14 years, and this time, it managed to integrate silver ions and zeolite into a three-layer face mask with ultrasonic ionization. So we have created a new, improved form of protection. Two months ago, we donated a large number of face masks to children, and this time we decided to donate to those who really need them the most, i.e. Covid centres and the "Karaburma" MMC – Ms Gocević emphasized.
According to product specification, the efficiency of the self-cleaning barrier silver face mask with silver ions and zeolite does not decrease over time and can be used multiple times until it is physically destroyed, covered with water or gets extremely dirty.
