Minister Stefanović meets with the Ambassador of Egypt, Mr. Aljowaily

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met today with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Serbia, Mr. Amr Fati Mohamed Aljowaily.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Stefanović reiterated Serbia’s principled position regarding the unilateral declaration of independence of the so-called Kosovo and pointed out the necessity of compliance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

Stefanović stated that the two countries were interested in strengthening friendly relations and expanding cooperation in the field of defence, and expressed his belief that the harmonization of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of military cooperation would be completed as soon as possible.

Ambassador Aljowaily congratulated Minister Stefanović on taking office and emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of defence for the improvement of overall relations between the two countries.

He expressed hope that the epidemiological situation would allow the holding of the 13th session of the Mixed Military Committee which is to be held in Cairo in the first half of 2021, where issues related to further intensification and improvement of military-economic, scientific and technological, military-military, military-medical and military-educational cooperation between Serbia and Egypt would be considered.

During today’s meeting, Ambassador Aljowaily extended invitation to Minister Stefanović to pay an official visit to Egypt.
