Minister Vulin: All members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged in the UN peacekeeping operation in Lebanon are doing well



Minister Vulin had a telephone conversation with the Senior National Representative of the SAF contingent deployed in the UN multinational operation UNIFIL in Lebanon, Lieutenant Aleksandar Stanojević, regarding yesterday’s skirmish and exchange of fire in the disputed border area between Lebanon, Syria and Israel.

On that occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Stanojević informed the Minister of Defence that all members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged in Lebanon are doing well and that no one was injured, that they are carrying out their regular tasks and that yesterday’s event in the area of the Shebaa

Farms did not affect their everyday activities and work. Serbian peacekeepers remain ready to selflessly engage in peacekeeping and peacebuilding in the UNIFIL mission and they have been recognized as such by the United Nations and partner countries.  

The Senior National Representative also informed the Minister of Defence that preparations for the rotation of the SAF contingent in this multinational operation are going according to plan and that the return of the current detachment is expected in August.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces joined the peacekeeping forces in the UNIFIL mission on 21 December 2010. and they are engaged there with the members of the Spanish and Italian Armed Forces.
