Assistant Minister Ranković meets with newly appointed Russian Defence Attaché, General Zinchenko




The Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Milan Ranković, MSc, met today with the newly appointed Russian Defence Attaché to Belgrade, Major General Alexander Zinchenko, and wished him success in his new duty.
  The appointment of Major General Zinchenko, the first general to serve as the Russian Defence Attaché to Belgrade, is a clear indicator of highly developed relations between the two friendly countries, as well as the importance the Russian Federation attaches to cooperation with Serbia in the field of defence. The historical roots and traditional closeness of the two nations, as well as the open and honest relationship between the presidents and the ministers of defence of the two countries, are the basis for achieving even better results, especially in the field of defence.

Assistant Minister Ranković highlighted the readiness to carry out the key planned activities of bilateral military cooperation, which were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and especially joint exercise activities and participation of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the International Military Games in the Russian Federation, by the end of the year.
 
Preparations for the participation of 75 members of the Serbian Guard in the Military Parade on Red Square in Moscow, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism, reflect Serbia's commitment to continue and further improve and intensify cooperation in the field of defence.
 
General Zinchenko expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and confirmed the exceptionally good cooperation between the two countries and armed forces, emphasizing his belief that cooperation in the field of defence will be further improved in the coming period.
