Minister Vulin: We are renovating the water supply system in the "Airport" barracks in Sombor after 50 years

Today, the Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, visited the infrastructural works, i.e. the construction of the water supply network in the "Airport" barracks in Sombor. The contractor in charge of the works, whose value is around 160 million dinars, is the “Belgrade” Military Construction Establishment of the Department for Infrastructure.

After the visit, Minister Vulin pointed out that the army consists of people, weapons, but it also consists of infrastructure.

- The Ministry of Defence has made great efforts to improve the quality of life of all our members in all our barracks, and as you can see, it continues to do so. After 50 years, the water supply system in Sombor, which has had faulty drinking water since 2003, is finally being renovated. All soldiers in Sombor will finally have decent conditions, conditions that are needed and that they deserve, and we will continue to invest in military infrastructure - Minister Vulin emphasized.

The Minister of Defence pointed out that there must not be a single barracks or a single military facility without drinking water, heating, a lightning conductor, a vehicle canopy, or a facility that has not been demined.

- There are still about 80 facilities in the Serbian Armed Forces with unexploded ordnance, as a result of the NATO aggression, and that is something that must be our priority in the coming period - Minister Vulin pointed out.
According to him, investing in military infrastructure will continue because it means investing in the quality of life of all the members of the military.

Speaking about the importance of works in the "Airport" barracks in Sombor, the Commander of the First Training Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Radovan Miladinović, pointed out that the beginning of the construction of water supply network is a big step in providing optimal living and working conditions for both professional members and soldiers who are doing military service and other categories who are undergoing training in that Centre. He also announced that other facilities in that barracks would be reconstructed in the coming period.

The State Secretary Bojan Jocić, the Chief of Staff of the Training Command, Colonel Nikola Dejanović, and the Head of the Department for Infrastructure, Colonel Radmilo Kravić, also visited the works on the water supply network.
