Minister Vulin’s congratulatory message to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoygu on Victory Day

The Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Victory Day - 9th May, to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergey Shoygu.

"75 years ago, our nations were victors; the Nazi evil was vanquished by the power of our united weapons. Millions of lives given for a free and better world oblige us to continue to preserve the memory of all the victims of the Nazi ideology," Minister Vulin emphasized at the beginning of the congratulatory message.

"The Red Army amazed the world with its fight, persistence and perseverance. The unparalleled heroism and conscious self-sacrifice of its members must not be forgotten. Serbs will never forget how they liberated Belgrade together with the Red Army. It would be shameful and unworthy of our ancestors if the truth were not told and if the gratitude and memory were not preserved. Serbs will never accept changing the history and equalizing victims and executioners, occupiers and freedom fighters. Every nation has chosen and won a place in history, and no one can take away or replace that place", states Minister Vulin and says that "those who do not admit that, can be angry at their ancestors who did not win them a place among the victors but they cannot change history and take the gratitude and recognition away from the nations who fought and defeated Nazism."

The Minister of Defence points out that "in the dark and difficult times of the Second World War, the Serbian people did not hesitate. We were never on the wrong side of the world."

"Neither Serbs nor Russians ever made a mistake when it came to choosing between good and evil, and that is why I congratulate you, dear comrade, as well as all the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and war veterans on a mutual holiday, Victory Day", states the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin in his congratulatory message to his Russian counterpart, Minister Shoygu.
