Russian military experts have set off to fight coronavirus in Serbia

Russian military experts who arrived in Serbia to assist in the fight against coronavirus, have started disinfecting facilities and visited healthcare institutions in several cities in Serbia.

According to the agreed engagement plan, NBC units with special purpose equipment disinfected approximately 65,000 square meters of surfaces within the healthcare facilities and the surrounding areas.

Among the first institutions to be disinfected was the maternity ward of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic "Narodni Front" and the University Hospital "Dragiša Mišovic", which accommodate patients with medium and severe symptoms of Covid-19.

During the first phase, Russian medical teams are analysing the epidemiological situation and are consulting with their Serbian colleagues in order to get detailed information about the health situation, and will soon provide direct medical assistance to patients with coronavirus.

A place was designated at the Military Medical Academy for special maintenance of the equipment after the disinfection operations.

The Russian military experts are divided into eight medical teams and each team has a general practitioner, an epidemiologist, an anaesthesiologist, a medical technician and an interpreter. The rest of the delegation is made up of NBC experts.

The aid includes 16 special motor vehicles intended for the disinfection of facilities and roads, as well as a large amount of medical and protective equipment needed for the treatment of patients with coronavirus and in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.
