Minister Vulin in Vranje: “Jumco” produces 20,000 protective masks daily

The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin visited today the production facilities of the "Jumco" Company, Vranje, where protective equipment has been manufactured since the introduction of the state of emergency in the Republic of Serbia due to the coronavirus epidemic.

In times like these, it is most evident how important it is to have your economy and your industry, Minister Vulin points out, noting that the decision of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, to preserve and strengthen Serbian Defence Industry is only now showing its true results.

- The entire Serbian Defence Industry works towards the needs of the State of Serbia, and the needs of all our citizens, and it shows how important it is to have your own industry, your own knowledge and wit. The State of Serbia appreciates that, and in some future peaceful and safe times, Serbian Defence Industry can count on its country's support, just as it has supported its country - Minister Vulin points out.

- “Jumco” Vranje has adapted its production to the needs of the state of emergency, in fact, to the needs of all of us, all the citizens, and it produces exactly what we need most. They have increased their output to 20,000 protective masks a day, and have already equipped the largest number of public institutions in the Jablanica and Pčinja districts, thus significantly contributing to the safety and health protection of all the members of the Serbian Armed Forces. I thank all these workers for working so hard and so persistently, for not asking whether they should work and for how long. They are here to serve their country, their armed forces and their people - said Minister Vulin.

The CEO of “Jumco”, Branislav Trajković said that after the introduction of the state of emergency in the Republic of Serbia, “Jumco”, being a responsible state-owned company, established a crisis team which takes all the measures and procedures in order to protect employees 24 hours a day.

- Since last week, we have raised the production of masks to a maximum. “Jumco” first donated thousands of masks and hundreds of protective suits to hospitals in Vranje, Bujanovac, Vladičin Han, Bosilegrad, various institutions such as the Nursing Home and social institutions - said Trajković, explaining that “Jumco” makes masks from highest quality cotton.

“Jumco” is operating in multiple shifts. Each of the 200 workers engaged in the production of masks has the necessary personal protective equipment, and there is no panic among the workers, says the CEO of “Jumco”, adding that the factory will put all its resources at the disposal of its country and people in this difficult situation.

During his visit to the “Jumco” Company, Minister Vulin, accompanied by the Commander of the 4th Army Brigade, Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa, also visited “Jumco’s” ballistic protection equipment production unit.
