Ministers Shoygu and Vulin at Exhibition “Defence 78”

Today, Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Army General Sergey Shoygu, who is staying in official visit to the Republic of Serbia, together with Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, visited the exhibition of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces “Defence 78” in the Museum of the City of Belgrade.

Minister Vulin presented the most significant segments of the exhibition to his Russian colleague and pointed to the fact that the exhibition was a way to preserve from oblivion everything that had happened in 1999.

Following the tour of the exhibition dedicated to commemoration of the 20th anniversary of defence of the fatherland from NATO aggression, Minister Shoygu wrote in the memorial book –NATO aggression against Yugoslavia took lives of many innocent people – women, old people, and children. However, the Serbian people, owing to its bravery, courage and strength of spirit, was not broken. We must not forget that tragedy and we have to do all that is possible to prevent it from happening again.

The exhibition “Defence 78” by author Dušan Jovović, is a project initiated by the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces, and it is a multimedia and interactive exhibition that for the first time presents video and printed material which were not presented to the public until now.

The exhibition is divided in eight segments, and its artistic expression rests on authentic artefacts which date back to 1998 and 1999.

In a unique way, the exhibition presents heroic defence of the country over 78 days of NATO aggression, which started by an attack against the FR Yugoslavia on 24th March 1999, without the approval of the United Nations Security Council, and it is dedicated to killed members of armed forces, police and civilians, among whom, sadly, there were many children.
