Minister of Defence of Russian Federation Arrived in Belgrade




Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Army General Sergey Shoygu has landed at the “Nikola Tesla” Airport in Belgrade. That marked the beginning of the official visit from Minister Shoygu to the Republic of Serbia, the first country that he has visited after his reappointment as the minister of defence of the Russian Federation.
 
Upon the entry into Serbian air space, Minister Shoygu’s plane was greeted by fighter planes MiG-29 of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Serbian Armed Forces, which accompanied it until the landing.
 
Minister Shoygu stays in Serbia upon invitation of Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin. Today’s visit is the ninth meeting of ministers Vulin and Shoygu since Aleksandar Vulin was appointed to the duty of the minister of defence of Serbia.
 
The welcoming ceremony for Minister Shoygu organised at “Nikola Tesla” Airport was attended by Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko and representatives of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

On the occasion of today’s visit a ceremonial reception is to be contrived in front of the Palace of Serbia, and ministers Vulin and Shoygu will have a meeting with the two delegations from the ministries of defence of Serbia and Russia, which is to be followed by ceremony of conferring honorary doctorate to Minister Shoygu which is to take place in the Guard Club.

The ministers of defence of Serbia and Russia, will together lay wreaths at the Memorial to the Liberators of Belgrade and the Monument to Red Army Soldier, and then they will together lay a capsule in the memorial plaque of the “Eternal Fire” and then tour the exhibition “Defence 78” in the Museum of the City of Belgrade.
