Minister Vulin: A year of modernisation and equipping of the Army is ahead of us



Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has visited today members of the 15th Tank Battalion of the 1st Army Brigade carrying out M-84 tank preparatory fire at the Orešac Military Complex.
 
Minister Vulin emphasised that the Serbian Armed Forces are being trained and prepared every day to carry out all their tasks.

- Only a trained army, only well-prepared one can respond to all the challenges in the modern world. The Serbian Armed Forces takes care that the training is at the highest possible level, that everyone is safe and sound, but in the forthcoming period, of course, especially when it comes to our armoured units, they will pay attention to the modernisation of our assets. Our tanks must be capable of responding to all possible threats – Minister Vulin emphasised, adding that we can see that all countries in the neighbourhood are getting equipped with the state-of-the-art tanks and state-of-the-art armoured units, so the Serbian Armed Forces must be able to respond and have assets by which it can respond to each and every threat and each and every challenge.
 
The year ahead, Minister Vulin announced, will be the year of the Army and the year in which the most of investments will be put in the modernisation and overhaul of assets owned and used by the Army.
 
- The Army, as the most numerous service branch of the Serbian Armed Forces, must be ready and prepared to respond to each and every challenge, which includes training and modernisation – Minister Vulin concluded.
Commander of the 15th Tank Battalion of the 1st Army Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Borislav Krnjajić, emphasised that one of the training activities that members of that battalion carry out during this year has been performed today.
 
- We use this firing range at the Orešac training ground to carry out all those preparatory actions for a more complex firing later on at the Pasuljanske Livade training range – Lieutenant Colonel Krnjajić pointed out, adding that one of the scheduled items for the preparatory fire that is normally carried out by tank crew has been conducted today.
 
According to him, the aim of firing is for the tank crews to practise and master proper observation, detection of targets, aiming and shooting these targets at the training ground.
- The firing results are very good and excellent and we are continuing the work according to the camping plan, during which we have planned to carry out several types of firing practice and preparatory fire, as well as firing with infantry weapons – Lieutenant Colonel Krnjajić emphasised.
 
Among those who achieved the best result during today’s Orešac range firing is Private First Class Stevica Gavrić, a gunner on the M-84 tank.
 
- My task, as a crew member, was to prepare a fire management system, whereat the successfully completed task will contribute in the execution of more complex tasks ahead of us in the Pasuljanske Livade training range – Private First Class Gavrić emphasised, expressing his satisfaction with the excellent result he achieved at today’s firing.
 
The firing at the Orešac military complex was also attended by Deputy Commander of the Army, Brigadier General Vladeta Baltić and Commander of the 1st Army Brigade, Brigadier General Zoran Nasković.
