Minister Vulin: Standard of members of the Serbian Armed Forces remains our priority

Defence minister Aleksandar Vulin, in the presence of the deputy chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković, handed over the keys of 27 apartments to members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the Grand War Room of the Old General Staff building.

After the key-handover ceremony, Minister Vulin emphasised that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces take care about their country and the safety of all Serbian citizens, but also have an obligation to take care for the standard and quality of life of all their members.
- All those who tie up their destiny, their life and their future to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have reason to hope and believe that their institutions, that their Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence will take care of them and their families. The initiative of the president of the Republic of Serbia and the commander-in-chief of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, about apartments for members of all security services is something that has not happened for decades. For us, this means a lot and every apartment we distribute and every apartment we distributed is an apartment we gave to a satisfied, safe man, a man who cares for all of us – minister Vulin said.

- This year, the Serbian Armed Forces will strive to do everything possible to improve the quality of life of its members – to share apartments, to increase salaries and per diems and to do everything we can to make life in the Serbian Armed Forces better, more successful, and all these people to pay off to their country and to their people every day with their care and their work and their tremendous dedication and sacrifice. This country can be peaceful, safe and secure, because there is someone to care about it, this year as well – minister Vulin said.
Master Sergeant Boban Pavlović, a member of the 204th Air Brigade, received a three-room apartment in Pančevo, and he shared the solemn moment today with his family members – his wife Marijana, son Boris and daughter Ana.

- I am satisfied with the apartment in which we are going to settle down after 25 years of waiting for the housing. We received an apartment of 77 square meters and it was a nice New Year’s present – Master Sergeant Pavlović points out, adding that for his family the new apartment means that they have solved the main problem of life.

In the New Year, Sergeant First Class Dušan Ugrenović, a member of the 126th AEW&C Brigade, will also move into the new apartment.

- I received a three-room apartment of 76 square meters in the ‘Tamiš kapije’ residential area in Pančevo. The wife and I will live in the apartment with our son and daughter. We are very happy because we have been waiting for the apartment for 27 years – Sergeant First Class Ugrenović said, and his wife Gordana shares his satisfaction with the new apartment, pointing out that it is an extremely nice feeling that their housing issue will be solved after so many years.
One of the 27 keys handed over today to active and retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces has also been presented to civilian Borko Obradović, a psychologist employed at the Colonel-pilot Milenko Pavlović Air Base in Batajnica, who has served 35 years in the defence system.

- I have been waiting for the apartment since 1991. There were difficult moments and a lot of relocation, but as our people say “all things come to those who wait” so we have waited for this moment, and for all of us present here and for our families this day is one of the happiest days of our lives – Obradović pointed out as he will soon move into the three-room apartment of 80 square meters, in Pančevo, in the ‘Tamiš kapije’ residential area, which, he says, makes him happy and he will be able to carelessly wait for his retirement with his wife and sons.
