President Vučić: We are moving to additional reform of our armed forces

President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić pointed out at today’s press conference after the official meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, that after a conversation with Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović, it had been decided to initiate additional reforms of our armed forces in order to make them even more mobile and faster in systemic sense.

- That does not mean the procurement of weapons, like our people think, on the contrary, we will even stop purchasing weapons, but we will in a smart way develop the entire defence system and be much stronger than we are today. We can learn a lot on that matter from Belarus - President Vučić emphasised.

Also, the president underlined that he was very happy for being in a position to welcome in Belgrade Alexander Lukashenko, a great friend of Serbia and the only world leader who had come to Serbia in 1999 to support our country when it had been attacked by 19 NATO countries. President Vučić underlined that Serbia was still grateful for that, and that the gratitude and respect of the Serbian people would remain forever, because President Lukashenko had wanted and had been strong enough to show his support for Serbia in one of historically most difficult moments of our country.

President Vučić also underlined that during today’s meetings, the ministers of the two countries talked about different topics and presented common goals in various spheres.

Speaking at today’s press conference about the importance of cooperation between the two countries, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stressed that experience is something that is the most expensive and most valuable, adding that the experience that Belarus possesses is always available to Serbia to use it at any moment, especially when it comes to the current defence issues.

- I agree with President Vučić that it is necessary for the armed forces to be mobile, strong and capable of acting swiftly. I repeat that to my friend President Vučić, and told that to former presidents as well. Today, you have finally started working on your armed forces and we have almost the same conditions, and our experiences in creating armed forces and experience in the field of security - President Lukashenko pointed out adding that Belarus desired to share that experience with Serbia.
