Meeting of Deputy Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia and Bulgaria




Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković met today in Dimitrovgrad with the Deputy Chief of Defense of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Dimitar Iliev.

During the meeting, experiences on the migrant crisis were exchanged and opportunities for enhancing bilateral military cooperation in the forthcoming period were examined. It was concluded that the exchange of information of importance for the preventive action and protection of citizens, peace and stability of our countries and region should be continued.

With regards to the bilateral military cooperation, it was noted that the Serbian Armed Forces and the Bulgarian Armed Forces have the most developed cooperation in the field of training, which is confirmed by the large number of international exercises in which they participate together, and this year alone the members of the two Armed Forces participated in five international military exercises. The joint exercise including shooting of targets in the air space that the Rocket units of the Air Defense are conducting at the “Shabla” range in Bulgaria in order to test the capabilities of the units is of great importance.

It was agreed to continue to improve military-military cooperation through activities of mutual interest over the coming period.
