President Vučić: Discussion with sincere friend of our country

- I had an honour of talking to a sincere friend of the Republic of Serbia and our people, President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman - said President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić at press conference held in the Palace of Serbia following the meeting with Czech President Zeman, who is staying in official visit to our country.

An honorary welcome was organised at the arrival of President Zeman in the Palace of Serbia - ceremonial formation of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces and playing national anthems of the two countries played by Ceremonial orchestra of the Guard.
Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin was in the delegation which welcomed the high guest. President Vučić underscored that he had a comprehensive discussion with his Czech colleague about bilateral relations between Serbia and Czech Republic and concrete problems.

He also said that he believed that the two countries would manage to find common interests in the future cooperation both in the framework of the Ministry of Defence and defence industry, not only with “Tatra” but with “Zbrojevka” as well. Expressing gratitude to President Zeman regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, President Vučić stressed that the solution to the problem could only be reached through compromise, and not through ultimatum.

- The ones running their countries have to pay attention to the states that they are running, and not be puppets in anyone’s hands. I am guided by that belief and I take care of Serbia, which I as its President lead and love more than anything. In keeping with that, we will continue pursuing the policy of military neutrality. Such is the decision of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and such is the decision of the people - said President Vučić, adding that he considered it to be the best decision of Serbia since in that way we took care of ourselves, of protection of our skies, and protection of our country.

- In the future as well, we will try to concurrently have good relations and cooperation with NATO - stresses President Vučić - so that 1999 would not happen again, because the wounds of the Serbian people sustained in that year have not healed. He sends a message that “we should look into the future and do everything four our country to have peace and security and that the wars of the 20th century repeat never again, and that this becomes the century of peace”.

In the framework of today’s visit, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin signed with Minister of Defence of Czech Republic Lubomir Metnar, an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Government of Czech Republic on Defence Cooperation in the presence of Presidents Vučić and Zeman
