Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China Visits Exhibition “Defense 78”

The Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, General Zhang Youxia, accompanied by the Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, visited the exhibition ”Defense 78” (“Odbrana 78”) today. The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces at the Museum of the City of Belgrade in commemoration of the anniversary of NATO aggression.

Visiting the interactive, multimedia setting, General Youxia was introduced by Minister Vulin the concept of the exhibition that summarizes the events in FR Yugoslavia immediately preceding, during and after the NATO aggression.

General Youxia showed particular interest in the original exhibits and videos presented at the exhibition, and during the tour he particularly focused on the segment that paints the bombing of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Belgrade by the NATO, which was a hitherto unprecedented diplomatic incident, characterized by the then Chinese Government as a war crime, a violation of China’s sovereignty and basic principles of international relations.

Following the visit to the exhibition, General Youxia wrote the following in the Book of Impressions: “We oppose war and defend peace.”

The “Defense 78” exhibition by author Dušan Jovović is a unique guide to interpreting NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia. The setting was prepared with the support of the Military Museum and the Air Force Museum, and significant contributions were made by units of the Serbian Armed Forces.

Earlier today, the delegation of the Central Military Commission, led by General Youxia, visited 250 Rocket Brigade for anti-aircraft operations at the “Major Milan Tepić” Barracks in Jakovo. The delegation was welcomed by Air Force and Air Defense Commandant, Major General Duško Žarković.
