Minister Vulin: After 15 years we have the first generation of educated non-commissioned officers

- After a wrong, malicious, and damaging decision to abolish high vocational schools in the Serbian Armed Forces, here is, 15 years later, that we have managed to educate the first generation of educated non-commissioned officers, the men that are maximally competent to work on avionics – Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin pointed out today as he visited the pupils of the final year of the High Vocational Military High School during their on-the-job training in the units at the military airfield “Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović” in Batajnica.

According to the minister of defence, it is difficult to explain why the High Vocational Military School was abolished and why, all of a sudden, the Serbian Armed Forces did not need educated non-commissioned officers, the people who are capable and competent to maintain our materiel.

- Upon a decision of Minister Gašić of 2015, that was stopped and reinstated, and now we have the first generation of educated NCOs, the first after 15 years. It is very difficult to make up for something that was not done in the previous period and make up for 15 years of negligence and non-investing in NCOs, in professional training of the men, but the system will give its best to ensure that the military profession is attractive, payable and that you can serve your country because you love your country – Minister Vulin stressed.

- We have more and more materiel- the minister of defence reminded – we are getting modernised and equipped.

- Upon a decision of Supreme Commander, President Vučić, huge resources are being invested in equipping our Air Force, but without these boys, competent NCOs, well trained and educated, nothing of that would be possible. That is why the system tries, and that is why the system will give its best to make the military profession more attractive, while the ones who have completed high vocational military schools are satisfied with having done that. At this moment, we are educating 195 boys and girls in the High Vocational Military School and those are the future non-commissioned officers who will ensure unhindered technical development and maintenance of the entire system – Minister Vulin emphasised concluding that the Serbian Armed Forces are invested in and that they are worth investing in.

Head of High Vocational Military School Colonel Stevan Mušicki PhD expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the youngest cadre of the Serbian Armed Forces had been educated after a decade and a half, and that cadre would start their professional military service in couple of days.

- These are the youngest members of the Serbian Armed Forces who have completed a four-year education in our school, at department for Air Force and Air Defence and they have achieved excellent results, and the average grade of the class is more than 4.60 – Colonel Mušicki underscored adding that soon to be Sergeants of the Serbian Armed Forces had been the most successful in general military and professional and specialist subjects.

As Commander of the 252nd Training Aviation Squadron Lieutenant Colonel Boško Šerbedžija explained, in the previous period, the students of the 46th class stayed for the on-the-job training, covering the topic aircraft armament in the units of the 204th Air Brigade, the 101st Fighter Aviation Squadron and the 252nd Training Aviation Squadron.

- After more than 15 years, we will post to our units the non-commissioned officers who were being educated for four years, which is a progress for us, since we will have quality and motivated young men. Thus, our unit and the Air Force and Air Defence as whole, will gain in expertise and increase of operational capabilities – Lieutenant Colonel Šerbedžija stressed.

Pupil Andrija Nikolić, soon to acquire his first NCO rank, is at the apron and hangars of the military airfield in Batajnica, together with other students of the final year of the 46th class of that department, where he has been for days advancing the knowledge acquired at the desks of the High Vocational Military School.

- Here, we are advancing the knowledge from department aviation armourer, which is based on armouring different types of aircraft. I enrolled for this school because I liked it, and it has made me a young independent man – Andrija underlines while expressing his satisfaction with the teachers and officers who worked with them throughout the education, and explaining that they have learnt a lot from them and he added that he would like to work in the airfield in Niš one day in order to be closer to his family.

Today’s visit was attended by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Major General Petar Cvetković, Commander of AF and AD Major General Duško Žarković and Head of Military Academy Major General Bojan Zrnić PhD.
