On the occasion of marking 214th anniversary of the Battle of Ivankovac, the delegation of the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces laid wreaths at the monument to Milenko Stojković at the “Šančevi na Ivankovcu” (“Trenches at Ivankovac”) site near Ćuprija.

With state and military honors, the wreaths were laid by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Zoran Antić, heading the state ceremony, representatives of the Municipality of Ćuprija, as well as representatives of associations committed to nurturing and upholding the traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars.

The organizer of the state commemorative ceremony is the Governments of the Republic of Serbia via Committee for Preserving the Traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars.

The Battle of Ivankovac that took place on 18 August 1805, headed by Milenko Stojković, is one of the greatest and most significant victories of Karađorđe’s fellow liberators in the entire course of the First Serbian Uprising. It is at the same time a brilliant example of a tactically well planned and executed military operation.
