Serbia is a Reliable Partner in the Field of Security

At the press conference held regarding the visit from President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron to Belgrade, President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić extended special gratitude to the French president and companies from that country for the opportunity to bring the military technical cooperation between Serbia and France at much higher level.
- We are ready and interested in buying other devices of optoelectronic nature from France. Today, Serbia has got money, and we do it in order to be always capable of preserving and protecting our country, as a militarily neutral country. France, as our ally both in the First and the Second World War, and as one of the most developed western countries in terms of modern technologies, can be someone who can even more successfully cooperate with us in that respect. I am very pleased with the purchase of “Mistral” missiles, and we will receive 18 units with the total of 50 missiles. It is very important for us and I believe that there is much more that we can do in the future – President Vučić sent the message.

Looking back on the cooperation in the field of defence and security, President Macron underlined that Serbia is “a reliable partner of France, especially in the field of fight against terrorism and organised crime”.

- I would particularly thank President Vučić for the engagement of Serbia in the fight against proliferation of local weapons in the framework of France-Germany initiative from 2017. In this respect, we wish to strengthen our defence cooperation, which has been done by today’s signing of the agreements. We wish to translate the brotherhood in arms that ties us into cooperation so that we could together opt for Europe. When I say that, I think about our bilateral relations, but I also stress that Serbia is a great European country. Thus, the responsibility of Europe towards Serbia lies in our common history which is going to extremely important in the years to come – emphasised French President Emmanuel Macron.
