Minister Vulin: Armed Forcesare equipping with new vehicles, weapons and assets

Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin attended the promotion and test drive of the new Zastava NTV off-road vehicle at the National Drivers’ Academy Center NAVAK training ground.

Minister Vulin, having had the opportunity to see the performance of this vehicle in field conditions, pointed out that the Ministry of Defense will do everything to provide the Serbian Armed Forces with new vehicles, new weapons and new assets.

- In technological terms the Serbian Armed Forces must not lag behind any other armed force in our surroundings. As you can see, we are predominantly trying to introduce our domestic intelligence, home-made products, and buy what our defense industry can apply itself - emphasized Minister Vulin.

The “Zastava TERVO” vehicle, added the Minister of Defense, is something that is truly good news for the Serbian Armed Forces, provided that it demonstrates good characteristics.

- I hope that by the end of the year we will be able to introduce the “zero series” and thus introduce this vehicle into the Serbian Armed Forces – emphasized Minister Vulin.

Talking about the new off-road vehicle Zastava NTV, Acting Assistant Minister of Material Resources, Nenad Miloradović, PhD pointed out that this is a vehicle developed jointly by the Military Technical Institute and “Zastava TERVO” factory.

- The vehicle was produced in two variants, at the request of the tactical authority of the Logistics Directorate of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, and by all its characteristics stands among the best in the world and absolutely surpasses what has been available to the Serbian Armed Forces for that purpose so far.
We intend to replace a very wide variety of old vehicles, such as “puh”, “pincgauer”, as well as various “tam” vehicles. It is a contingent that is already outdated and whose features are nowhere near the currently required level, nor is it profitable to invest in them - said Assistant Minister Miloradović, adding that the defense system is very ambitious about this vehicle.

In terms of construction, Miloradović emphasized, the components and main subsystems of the most renowned world-class manufacturers were selected, and our engineers, experts and workers at the “Zastava TERVO” company have done the rest.

- During the constructor tests, the vehicles have gone more than 2.000 kilometers, and the training ground where we are provides the necessary conditions for the appropriate vehicle construction stress tests to reassure the constructors of their characteristics and possibly help them anticipate the appropriate changes. The vehicle is entering the final testing phase for the introduction into the weapon systems, and it is expected that this process will be completed by the end of this year by entering the “zero series”, that is, equipping the Serbian Armed Forces - said Assistant Minister Miloradović.

This vehicle is produced for domestic purposes by the producer “Zastava TERVO”, and it has so far been provided in two variants - a van and 8 plus 1 and a truck 2 plus 1 with the capacity of eight more in the storage box. The vehicle is designed for difficult field conditions, 4/4 drive structures, with an additional load of 1.400 kilograms plus 1.700 kilograms of additional pulling capacity. Various types of upgrades are planned for the needs of units, arms and services of the Serbian Armed Forces.
